Amerock is consistently among our most popular and highest rated hardware lines. Amerock dates all the way back to 1928 when it was founded by two brothers who were Swedish immigrants to the United States. Before the establishment of Amerock, most kitchen hardware was merely functional, not particularly decorative. Many believe that they were the first company in the US to focus specifically on creating kitchen cabinet hardware, and the first to grasp the decorative potential of the industry. In 1987, Amerock was acquired by Newell, the company that eventually became Newell Rubbermaid.
One area that sets Amerock apart are their line of cabinet hinges. The majority of the manufacturers we carry do not bother with hinges, yet Amerock has put a strong emphasis on their hinge line, with the result that Amerock hinges are far and away the best selling hinges on our sites. This emphasis on hinges is an example of the type of forward thinking strategies that Amerock employs. While so many other manufacturers do not consider hinges worth their effort as they are a low cost item that is often not visible, Amerock is able to use their hinge line as a way of drawing in cusotmers to their more expensive lines, such as their knobs, pulls, and bath hardware.
