Amerock dates all the way back to 1928 when it was founded by two brothers who were Swedish immigrants to the United States. Before the establishment of Amerock, most kitchen hardware was merely functional, not particularly decorative. Many believe that they were the first company in the US to focus specifically on creating kitchen cabinet hardware, and the first to grasp the decorative potential of the industry. In 1987, Amerock was acquired by Newell, the company that eventually became Newell Rubbermaid.
